The Cami Citrine Design Process

The Cami Citrine Design Process

Hey, I’m Cami - the founder of Cami Citrine.

I thought it might be nice to show you how an idea becomes something you can wear - step by step, from loose sketches to final pieces. Each design starts with a flicker of inspiration and unfolds through a hands-on, intuitive process. I'm still developing my design style with every new piece I create, and that's part of what keeps it exciting!

Every piece of jewellery I create starts with something simple: a pencil and a page full of squiggles... I sketch without pressure. Just lines, curves, and shapes until something clicks. It’s not about perfection at this stage; it’s about finding a flow, a feeling, or a spark that leads to something special. These loose sketches are where the ideas begin to take form. I will often use a light box to allow myself to retrace elements of a shape that I would like to develop further.

Once I see the direction I want to go, I refine the drawing. Cleaning up the lines and dialling in the details until it becomes a clear visual of the piece I want to create. From there, I choose the stones and materials that will bring it to life, selecting each one for how it complements the design’s mood and structure.

Next, we turn the refined sketch into a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) model. This step gives me a precise digital representation of the piece, showing exactly how it will look in real life - every curve, every prong, every gemstone placement.

Once everything’s just right, the piece goes into production, where it transforms from an idea into a tangible piece of jewellery. After that, I style and photograph it. Capturing its final form and making sure it shines both in person and on screen.

It’s a process that blends my intuition with precision, and every step is part of the story behind the jewellery you wear.

Much love,

Cami x
